No Politics No Whiners Kite Workshop
Number One
at the Marina in Berkeley, CA.

Brian Champie and Tim Helwig plan to present a series of workshops with increasing skill levels so as to bring participants up to the skill level to participate in workshops with "Master" kite designers who are displaying advanced techniques.

Sunday's workshops were:

  • Kitemaking 101: Nathan Sendan from "Laughing Gecko Kites" taught sewing basics. Participants built 50 foot tails as their first project.
  • Kitemaking 102: For those who didn't need basic sewing techniques, J.R. Tolman taught how to build a wood block, printed paper and bamboo Japanese Suruga Kite.

Nathan Sendan helps one participant Nathan helps out one participant who looks like they're having some trouble with their machine.

J.R. Tolman J.R showing his group the finer points of assembly.
