Awesome Kite Activities!

The Mix-96 Kite Fest will feature non-stop spectacular kite activities:

Kite Team Ballet: Six kite teams including The Bay Area Sundowners and Team Visual Impact will perform intricate kite ballets that are choreographed to music. Kite Team Ballet is like a cross between the Blue Angels and Pairs ice skating. You don't want to miss it!

Chinese Centipede Dragon Kites for the Lunar Year of the Dragon: Kite teams will fly traditional Chinese Centipede Dragon Kites to mark the Lunar Year of the Dragon. The Chinese Dragon Kite design is one of the pinnacles of all kite forms. Hand-crafted from silk and bamboo by master kite-builders in China, these kites seem to stand guard over the entire sky. Some of these kites are up to 200 feet long!

Rokkaku Kite Battle for the Skies: It will be a sky full of madness and mayhem when members of the audience join members of the kite exhibition team in a California-style Rokkaku Kite Battle. Up to 20 Kites will fill the main arena and the last kite in the sky wins!

See the Giant Flying Octopus: Fresh out of the delta comes the giant Octopus kite. Is it an aqua-form taking to the sky, ready to consume Elk Grove Park, or is it a just a many-armed, mild-mannered kite? You be the judge at this year's Mix-96 Kite-Fest.

Is that a 40-ft tall Bear in the Air? That's right, a baby blue, 40-foot tall flying Teddy Bear Kite will be protector of the skies at the Mix-96 Kite Fest. One thing for sure is that there will be no 'bare' skies in Elk Grove on
September 17.

Giant Panda & Elephant Windsocks: With the Teddy Bear Kite holding the Octopus at bay, the skies will be safe for all manner of kite and windsock creations, including the Giant Panda and Elephant windsocks. You'll also get a kick out of the Flying Legs Kite.

See the 100-foot Giant Spinning Windsocks: Large enough for the entire Olympic basketball team to walk inside, these giant windsocks are candy for the eyes.

A Magical Day with Your Kids, Featuring Lots of Family-oriented Activities Beyond the Kites!

And if kite flying isn't your thing, there will be plenty of festival activities to entertain you. Here are just a few:

The Parents' Klub: Moms and dads can get the latest information about kids' activities like private schools, sports leagues, and investments for the future.

The Kids' Korner: Featuring children's activities such as pony rides, a petting zoo, the Windy Wizard craft pavilion, bounce houses, a 28' tall giant slide, the Pokemon Pavillion, interactive games, face painting, plus children can star in their own rock video.

The Kite Kitchen: Full of your favorite fair food and tasty treats including pizza, BBQ lunches, Mexican food, ice cream, snow cones, cookies and much, much more.

The Shoppers Alley: Rows and rows of local artisans and businesses for your shopping pleasure.
